信州の寺院「善光寺」とその周辺の桜名所をご紹介します！
善光寺（ぜんこうじ）は、長野市の中心部に位置する無宗派の寺院で、約1,400年の歴史を持つ、日本を代表する寺院の一つです。創建から宗派にこだわることなく宿願が可能な霊場として知られ、また女人禁制であった旧来の仏教の中で、女性の救済も可能で、常に全ての信徒を受け入れてきたお寺として知られています。
現在の本堂は、江戸時代中期の宝永4年（1707年）に再建されたもので、「国宝」に指定されており、高さ約27ｍ、間口約24ｍ、奥行約53ｍで、国宝に指定されている木造建築の中で3番目に大きいものです。
本堂の東側には「東庭園」が整備されており、せせらぎも流れる心地よい庭園となっています。
■善光寺 雲上殿
雲上殿（うんじょうでん）は、善光寺の北側の山の中腹に設けられた納骨堂で、善光寺の伽藍（がらん）の一つで、春は桜名所としても知られています。
善光寺平を一望できる最高のロケーションに位置しており、眼下に善光寺境内が見え、その先に長野市街地を一望できます。
善光寺裏手の桜坂から続く約650本の桜並木の終点に位置し、善光寺に比べて混雑が少なく、隠れた桜名所となっています。善光寺周辺の桜の見ごろは、例年4月中旬～下旬です。
■長野市城山公園
長野市城山公園（ながのしじょうやまこうえん）は、善光寺のすぐ東隣りにある広大な都市公園で、長野市の中心部に位置し、明治33年に開園した歴史ある公園です。
この城山は、その名の通り南北朝時代に横山城が築かれていた地で、戦国時代には「川中島の戦い」で上杉謙信が本陣とした場所でした。
園内には長野市城山動物園、長野県信濃美術館なども併設され、モノレールやメリーゴーラウンドなどの大型遊具もあるため、公園散策だけでなく、遊園地のような楽しみ方もできます。園内に約470本の桜が植えられ、長野市を代表する桜名所として知られます。春になると花見茶屋（花見小屋）という仮設の茶屋が立ち並びます。

Zenkoji Temple and its surrounding cherry blossom viewing spots!
Zenkoji Temple, a nondenominational temple located in the center of Nagano City, is one of Japan's representative temples with a history of approximately 1,400 years. It has been known since its founding as a sacred site where one can make a lodgment without being a sectarian. It is also known as a temple that has always accepted all believers, allowing women's salvation in the old Buddhist tradition where women were forbidden to enter.
The present main hall, rebuilt in 1707 (Hoei 4) during the mid-Edo period, is designated as a "National Treasure" and is the third largest wooden structure designated as a National Treasure, with a height of about 27 m, a frontage of about 24 m, and a depth of about 53 m.
On the east side of the main hall is the "East Garden," a pleasant garden with a murmuring stream.
Zenkoji Unjoden
Unjo-den is an ossuary built on a hillside on the north side of Zenkoji Temple and is one of the temple buildings.
It is located in a prime location overlooking the Zenkoji Plain, with a panoramic view of the Zenkoji temple grounds below and the Nagano city center beyond.
The best time to view the cherry blossoms around Zenkoji Temple is usually from mid to late April.
Joyama Park
Nagano City Joyama Park is a vast urban park located just east of Zenkoji Temple, in the center of Nagano City.
As the name implies, Joyama was the site where Yokoyama Castle was built in the Nanbokucho Period, and was the main camp of Kenshin Uesugi during the Battle of Kawanakajima in the Warring States Period.
The park is also home to the Nagano City Joyama Zoo and the Nagano Prefectural Shinano Art Museum, and with a monorail, merry-go-round, and other large playground equipment, visitors can enjoy not only a stroll through the park, but also an amusement park-like experience. With approximately 470 cherry trees planted in the park, it is known as one of Nagano City's most popular cherry blossom viewing spots.
